The Ultimate Matchmaker

ACCEPTING GOD AS YOUR MATCHMAKER

BY STEPHANIE HERZOG

Come Valentine's Day, so many singles feel incomplete, as if they have failed to fulfill last year's "love resolution" to find someone for next year's "Single's Awareness Day."

According to 1 Corinthians 7:7, "God gives the gift of the single life to some, the gift of the married life to others." So whether you're single or married, both are gifts from God. Just because you're "still" single, it doesn't mean you're a second-class citizen, or that there's something wrong with you. In fact, the Bible speaks highly and recommends the single life. Your singleness, which may only be for a season, can be a time of devotion to God so you can grow, serve, and please Him without the distractions or cares that come with a love partner.

Many people will give God other areas of their life, but when it comes to relationships and finding their mate, they seem to say to God, "I'll take it from here," not realizing that God would have totally helped them and saved them so much time, regret, and heartache. So often we try and pick someone we think we would like, and then hope and pray that God blesses it anyway. Don't end up in a relationship that is constantly needing counseling, always on the verge of destruction, wishing there was a way out. Don't choose a path of regret. If you let God choose for you, He will always present to you His best choice.

The most important decision one makes in life---besides making Jesus their Lord and Savior---is whom they will marry. But many Christians seem to take this lightly. As the song goes, there are many "looking for love in all the wrong places. Looking for love in too many faces, searching their eyes." Even in churches, there are those who've dated seemingly everyone available in their church and still haven't found the right person. They are forever seeking for love or "The One," but never finding. Then as they see their time clock ticking, desperation takes hold, causing them to settle. Because surely, having someone is better than being alone, right? Wrong. Beloved, that is not the way to find the right person to marry.God has a better plan.

When you follow the Designer's plan, everything works out better. How would you like the Designer of the universe who made everything perfect with such limitless genius be your official Matchmaker? Wouldn't the Creator of the Universe know better than you, out of the billions of people in the world, who your best match would be? He's the One who made you! God has total access to every human being on the earth more than any matchmaking website or service...which is often a futile attempt of trying to do a better job than trusting God with our love lives. When you release the choice to God and follow His ways, God will set you up to receive your perfect match "exceeding abundantly above what you can ask for or think of."

So how does one begin on the journey to let go and let God be their Matchmaker? What exactly are you supposed to do? Is dating okay, should one just wait and pray, or should we just take it into our own hands and make it happen? Find out as your life gets totally transformed and blessed as you read my book, and discover how you, too, can let God be your "Matchmaker."
